Discrimination

A discrimination claim against an employer can be particularly concerning in terms of reputation but there is also the risk of considerable awards being made which are currently uncapped. There is no minimum length of employment service required to bring a discrimination claim. In fact, discrimination claims have succeeded in cases where the discrimination has occurred as part of the recruitment process and where the claimant was not even employed by the business.

We can advise on all areas of discrimination, including on the main grounds of:

  • sex
  • race
  • disability
  • sexual orientation
  • religion or belief
  • age

It is essential for employers to put in place equal opportunities policies and to ensure that they are properly implemented. We can provide you with support to facilitate the drafting, monitoring and enforcement of these policies.

We deal with discrimination, equal pay and harassment claims. We regularly represent clients at the Employment Tribunal and can advise on and facilitate settlement where appropriate.

Our clients say...

It is a delight to work with someone who really does appreciate not only what I'm going through but also what I want to achieve, yet manages to stay sympathetic, empathetic and totally professional - something I've come to get very used to in my dealings with Howell-Jones. "
