Restrictive covenants

Restrictive covenants are clauses that form part of an employee’s contract of employment, which have the intention of protecting the employer’s business by restricting the activities of an employee, after employment has ended.

At Howell-Jones we are able to advise employees on this complex area of the law. It is of importance that employees seek advice on restrictive covenant clauses in their contracts of employment, especially if the clause seeks to put the employee at a particular disadvantage in the market place. Furthermore, employees should be made aware of the legal implications of these clauses, as breaching a restrictive covenant can have far reaching legal consequences, which can have significant cost implications on employees.
