Probate and administration of estates

Death is one of life’s certainties.  We handle the winding up of the affairs of the deceased, in accordance with the terms of the Will or the rules of intestacy, where there is no Will.  It is our rôle to do so sensitively, tactfully and efficiently.

Our job is to assist the personal representatives (in the case of a Will, the executors, otherwise the administrators) collect the assets, pay the debts, agree and pay taxes,  and distribute the balance appropriately.

We can advise on potential ways to save inheritance tax even after the death has occurred.

Sometimes people are unreasonably excluded from Wills or there is a dispute over a Will or Estate.  These elements are handled by our Dispute Resolution Team who are experienced with contentious probate matters, whether this be challenging/defending the validity of a will or making/opposing a claim against an Estate.

Our clients say...

Thank you so much for all your help and advice, and please could you thank your secretary, Carol, who has also been amazingly helpful too. It has been a somewhat stressful endeavour and you have both helped to soothe the way for me, so again- thank you. "
