Wills, Trusts and Tax
The Trusts and Estates Team is made up of friendly and sensitive professionals who advise exclusively on the following:
Wills – we prepare all types of will from simple to more complex advising on the legal and tax implications of intended instructions. Our clients range from young to old from all backgrounds. All adults should review their wills throughout their lives as their circumstances change, for example on marriage or if there is a major change to their financial situation.
Estate administration – we offer as much or as little assistance as required by personal representatives administering estates of all sizes and complexity. We ensure the estate is properly administered thereby protecting the personal representatives personally from any claims.
Trust creation and administration – we advise on the use of trusts to separate benefit and control of assets for various reasons including protecting vulnerable beneficiaries and tax purposes. We advise on the administration of trusts including tax matters.
Powers of Attorney – we advise on the most appropriate and cost effective solution if you want to give somebody authority to deal with your assets and you have mental capacity to do so. If you are concerned that somebody has lost or is losing their mental capacity to deal with their financial affairs we can advise about the appointment of a deputy. If the role is too onerous for a member of family or friend then a partner in this firm could be appointed. We also advise in the day to day administration of financial affairs on behalf of deputies.
The Trusts and Estates Team is fortunate to have the expertise of fully qualified members of the Society of Estate and Trust Practitioners (STEP). Full members of STEP are recognised to be the most experienced and senior practitioners in the field of trusts and estates.
We are always looking to provide an exceptional service to our clients. For this reason, should you need to speak to one of the lawyers in our Wills, Trusts and Tax team outside of normal working hours (9.00am and 5.30pm), please call them free on 0800 988 2436.
