Employment law is complex and changes rapidly. Many employers find the list of legal rights and responsibilities daunting and difficult to deal with, but complying with the law and looking after staff will make your business more efficient and more profitable. Getting it wrong could cost you time, money or lost profitability. 2014 has already seen a number of changes to employment law for employers and more changes are afoot. Employers should start preparing for employment law changes coming into force and be aware of the challenges facing their business to deal with changes to employment tribunal procedures, the right to request flexible working and the introduction of the Health and Work Service.

Court fees increase - more reason to reach a professionally negotiated settlement - our litigation lawyers suggest

Despite protests from the Law Society, Civil Justice Council and other professional groups; from 22nd April Court fees in England and Wales rose by over 80% in some cases. The Ministry of Justice is sending a clear message to Court users that they will need to dig deeper into their pockets to fund litigation and should therefore try and resolve disputes before going to court.
