Do you own a flat or a leasehold property but want greater control over how the block is run?


Usually a block of flats is managed by, or on behalf of, the freeholder of the property. Since 1993 it has been possible for leaseholders, through a concept known as leasehold or collective enfranchisement, to get together and buy the freehold to the property. This allows them to collectively manage the block, removing the previous freeholder from this function. Even if the freeholder resists, ultimately, provided various criteria are met, the freeholder can not stop the sale of the freehold
