Ellen is a solicitor in the Employment team. Her specialist knowledge and expertise in employment law covers both contentious and non-contentious employment work.

Ellen advises both employer and employee clients. 

She is able to offer pragmatic and clear advice across a wide ambit of complex legal areas. Her areas of expertise include, but are not limited to:

Drafting: policies and procedures, compromise agreements, consultancy agreements, and contracts of employment.

Advising on: compromise agreements, the disciplinarily process, grievances, unfair dismissals, constructive dismissals, breach of contract, TUPE, unlawful deduction of wages, discrimination, harassment and victimisation.

Representation at: the Employment Tribunal.

Since qualification Ellen has also practiced in civil litigation. She has successfully demonstrated on several client matters that she is able to provide clients with coherent and comprehensive litigation advice. Ellen is also a keen advocate and she has represented clients at the Kingston County Court on several occasions.

In 2005 Ellen commenced her legal training at the College of Law, where she successfully completed the Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course.

From 2007 Ellen worked for an international law firm in the City of London. Whilst working in the City Ellen gained exposure and legal knowledge of Financial Services. She assisted partners and associates with the set-up and launch of an on-line, subscription only, legal product targeted at financial institutions and hedge fund clients.

From September 2008 until August 2010 Ellen trained as a solicitor with Howell-Jones. Whilst undertaking her training contract she has gained experience in the following areas: Company Commercial, Employment, Litigation, Family and Private Client.

Ellen is Chair of Young Surrey Lawyers, part of the Junior Lawyers Division of the Law Society. Her responsibilities are to provide support, awareness and connections to other young legal professionals in Surrey.

Ellen enjoys networking. She is a member of Kingston Young Professionals, Best of Kingston, and the Kingston Chamber of Commerce.

Ellen is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.
