Compensation for man injured at work

04 March 2011

Our client worked as a labourer for a building company.   He and a colleague were asked to lift heavy stones onto a wall, each stone weighing approximately 260 kilos.  They were under pressure from their employers to complete the job quickly.  As they lifted one stone, it fell crushing the tips of two fingers on our client's hand.  The tips of his fingers were later amputated and he continued to suffer with pain and discomfort on a daily basis.

We advised our client that his employer was responsible for the accident as there were insufficient men and equipment for the job to be carried out safely.  The employer admitted liability for the accident and we negotiated a substantial settlement for our client.  He received compensation for the pain and suffering, past and future loss of earnings and for his disadvantage on the labour market.
