Employment law - interpretation of contracts
09 January 2012
On 21st December 2011 the High Court found that on proper interpretation of a contract between a newspaper editor and his employer, the employer was not responsible for paying the editor's legal fees, that occurred as a result of illicit payments to the police and unlawful interception of communications. Indemnity only arose with regard to lawful activities arising from his editorship.
