Good news - Government may extinguish referral fees in personal injury claims

30 June 2011

It has been widely reported in the media over the past week that the Government intends to stop referral fees in personal injury claims.

The BBC News website has reported that Labour MP Jack Straw has put pressure on the Government to ban referral fees after a friend was “bombarded” with calls and text messages asking him to make a personal injury claim after an accident.

The BBC News website reports that insurance companies are “tipping off” claims companies by passing on their clients’ details without permission and charging referral fees to the claims companies who then sell on the leads to Solicitors who are willing to pay.

We do not pay referral fees for such work and we hope the Government’s pledge to ban them is implemented as soon as possible.
