Health and Safety Executive fine companies after a worker is killed on the M25

22 July 2011

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has reported that two companies have been fined after a worker was killed while working on the M25 motorway.

The worker was carrying out repair work at the side of the motorway when he was crushed between a vehicle and a safety barrier after a lorry crashed on the motorway.

The worker and a colleague were in a closed lane when the tragic accident happened.  The HSE said the “speed limits were too high, there was a poor cone layout through the contraflow and there was inadequate management of subcontractors.”
