Health and Safety Executive fine company after employee injured at work

16 May 2011

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has reported that a company has been fined and ordered to pay costs after an employee was paralysed after falling from an industrial lift.

The HSE said the company had failed to ensure the safety of its employees while they were installing overhead cables.  The HSE said the accident could have been avoided if the company had a safe system of work in place.

This accident highlights the importance of workplace regulations which employers must follow to help prevent accidents at work.
