Health and Safety Executive fine company after worker falls from roof

22 August 2011

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has reported that a Satellite TV installation company has been prosecuted after the death of a worker who fell while carrying out work on a satellite TV dish on a roof.

The HSE said the worker’s safety equipment was unsuitable and the company had failed to ensure the work at height was properly planned, organised and monitored.  The company failed to assess the worker’s competence and did not supervise him.

This tragic accident highlights the importance of workplace regulations which employers and employees must follow to help prevent accidents at work.
