Health and Safety Executive fine sole trader after accident at work

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has reported that a sole trader has been fined and ordered to pay costs after an employee suffered serious injuries after falling head first through a roof.
The HSE said the sole trader had failed to ensure working at height was carried out safely with suitable equipment. The HSE said there were no precautions in place to prevent the employee from falling.
The HSE reported that the major cause of workplace fatalities are falls from height. This accident highlights the importance of workplace regulations which employers must follow to help prevent accidents at work.
