Landlord convicted after failing to carry out gas inspections
24 May 2011
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has reported that a landlord who repeatedly failed to carry out gas inspections at one of his rented properties has been given a suspended six-month prison sentence, community service and ordered to pay costs.
The HSE reported that the landlord had failed to carry out gas inspections for over four years. The HSE warned that a gas leak or faulty appliance can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning and landlords must have a valid gas safety certificate in place.
