Law Society Launches Campaign to Regulate Will Making

23 March 2011

The Law Society is concerned by the absence of regulation for will writing and the damage that the absence of such protection can have on the public.  There are many will writing services currently available that are unregulated and that do not provide any insurance for the consumer.  Accordingly a campaign has been launched calling on the Government to make will writing  an activity that only those properly authorised and legally regulated can undertake .

Drafting a will is a complex matter and requires specialist knowledge and training.  Many people believe that they require a 'simple will' but when the correct questions are asked of them, it transpires that the matter is far from straightforward!  There may be children from a previous marriage, foreign property, business assets and tax implications that may mean that detailed advice and planning are required.

The Howell Jones' Trust and Estates Team has years of experience in the preparation of wills.  Please contact us on 01372 860650 if you would like to make your will.
