Litigation - update on civil costs reform

03 November 2011

As many of our readers will be aware, Lord Justice Jackson produced a very detailed report on the possible reform of costs law in UK civil law.

Since publication of the report, LJ Jackson and a working party have been working on behalf of the Government on defining and the implementation of the proposed reforms.

It is currently intended that a large part of the reforms will be introduced in October 2012.  Such reforms may change the current cost recovery rules (from opponents).

The Litigation, Employment, Family and Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Teams are all monitoring the reforms and will be happy to discuss and advise on their implications.

Please feel free to give any of the teams a call to explore any cases, which you may feel will be affected by the reforms and to explore how we might assist you.
