Parents to help control how their children drive
09 September 2011
The Guardian newspaper has reported that the car manufacturer, Ford, will install “MyKey technology” into cars in Europe in 2012.
The technology will allow parents to control speed limits, set maximum audio volumes and activate a chime or mute the audio system if the occupants have failed to fasten their seatbelts.
We reported last week that the Institute of Advanced Motorists found that younger drivers are more likely to drive too fast and two of the main causes of fatal accidents are inexperience and distractions whilst driving. The “MyKey technology” may help to prevent accidents.
