Reduction in number of workplace injuries

08 November 2011

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has advised that, between April 2010 and March 2011, 24,726 major injuries and 90,653 other injuries were reported to the HSE.  The number of injuries notified was lower than in the year 2009/2010.

The HSE also disclosed that 171 workers were fatally injured at work, compared to 147 in the year 2009/2010.

4.4 million days were lost due to an injury suffered at work.

There are a number of workplace regulations which employers must follow to help prevent accidents and fatalities at work.  If you have been injured at work and your employer has failed to follow the relevant regulations, you may be entitled to make a claim for compensation.
