The Justice Secretary undertakes consultation on the small claims limit

20 May 2011

The Justice Secretary, Kenneth Clarke, is considering changing the limit for small claims from £5,000 to £15,000. The consultation process is underway and the objective is to establish a reformed, speedy and simplified county court system. These changes are expected to come into force in April 2012.

If you would like more information on these proposed changes to the court system please contact the Dispute Resolution team at Howell-Jones. We will be happy to explain the current system and the impact that the future reform will have.
