Two companies fined after worker dies at work

17 June 2011

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has reported that an energy company and contractor have been fined after a maintenance worker fell to his death at a power station in Wales.

The HSE said both companies had a duty of care to the worker that they failed to meet.  The HSE said the tragic accident could have been prevented had the correct safety measures been taken.

The energy company was fined £250,000 and the contractor was fined £200,000.  Both companies were ordered to pay costs.
