Supermarkets and retail shops owe a duty of care to visitors to their stores; they must take reasonable steps to ensure the health and safety of visitors. Unfortunately shops and supermarket stores are not always as tidy as they should be and although they may have cleaning regimes and often, “clean as you go” policies in place, these policies do not always prevent accidents.
If you have suffered an injury as a result of an accident at a supermarket or shop, it is advisable to report the accident as soon as possible (preferably on the day of the accident) and if possible, take photographs showing where and why you fell.
