She has been a member of the Law Society Personal Injury Panel since 1998. Domini is a partner at Howell Jones and is head of the Personal Injury and Clinical and Medical Negligence team.
Domini’s specialism is as an APIL (Association of Personal Injury Lawyers) senior litigator with a focus on clinical negligence.
Domini has notable success across a number of cases. Here are details of some of her most prominent:
A serious injury claim, when the claimant was rendered tetraplegic following a diving accident at a local swimming pool. Liability for the claim was disputed and it was agreed that there should be a split trial on the issues of liability and quantum. The claimant was successful at the trial on liability although he was found to have been partially responsible for the accident. The Council appealed the judgment although their appeal was quickly dismissed by the judges at the Court of Appeal. Negotiations followed with a settlement being reached before the quantum trial.
A fatal accident claim both on behalf of the wife of a deceased husband both in her right as dependant on behalf of the estate and as a secondary victim to the accident. The claim for dependancy included significant loss of pensions which required close scrutiny before a detailed Schedule of Loss was prepared. Compensation in excess of £485,000 was recovered.
A complex clinical negligence claim against a local hospital. The claimant instructed me very close to the expiration of the limitation period therefore it was necessary to issue protected proceedings as soon as possible before we had a chance to obtain expert evidence and form a clear view on liability. The claimant sustained significant psychological injuries as well as physical injuires caused by the negligent surgery and a significant number of experts were required to examine, report and prepare joint statements for the Court. Liability was never admitted but a number of offers were made, and negotiations finally led to a successful resolution before the date listed for trial.

A very big thank you for your support over the last few years. You’ve been clear when times have been confusing, and understanding when times have been hard.
Dear Domini, I just wanted to thank you for agreeing to take on my case, fighting my corner so hard and dealing with such a sensitive situation so brilliantly. I could not have done it without you.
I would like to thank you and all of the team who kindly supported me from the beginning.
